Location: Downtown Birmingham, AL {3 days in-office}

Job Description:

Seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to serve as a critical bridge between development, infrastructure, and operations teams. This role requires a collaborative, hands-on professional who can identify interdependencies, streamline processes, and optimize software delivery pipelines. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in cloud-based applications, containerized environments, and automation, combined with the ability to work cross-functionally to drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to design and improve deployment pipelines.
  • Assess and resolve productivity barriers and interdependencies between teams.
  • Design and implement cloud-based application integrations and SaaS implementations.
  • Provide expertise in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and other container-based platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to automate operational processes that slow delivery.
  • Develop architectural diagrams, design specifications, and support documentation.
  • Ensure availability and performance of supported systems meet SLAs.
  • Assist with integration of applications across multi-platform systems.
  • Participate in the planning, development, and support of systems and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement solutions that align with business goals.
  • Apply coding best practices to ensure application performance and scalability.
  • Suggest and implement performance improvement measures.
  • Report to management on task progress, including delays or risks.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience in systems engineering, administration, or DevOps.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Experience with:
  • VMware, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and containerized applications
  • Database administration (Postgres preferred) and networks
  • Large-scale server infrastructure support
  • Continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), test-driven development, and release management
