Job description

The Business Development Manager will be located at our Los Angeles Office in DTLA.

Lending Business:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for coordinating and underwriting of Commercial, C&I, and Syndication transactions while adhering to all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

The Business Development Manager will focus on acquisition of new clients and expanding relationships with existing clients. Maintain and grow the existing, profitable loan portfolio by seeking lending and other credit opportunities with new potential clients.

The Business Development Manager will work with our Loan Officer by overseeing the existing portfolio and applying Bank’s Lending policy and procedures, analyzing company fundamentals in the light of industry trends and market conditions, and supervising the maintenance of internal reporting systems, and provide guidance to the team member for efficient and effective processing of daily functions.

The Business Development Manager will also cooperate with loan officers and other members of the Bank to perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the Regulator examinations and/or audit and validations from external/internal auditor.

Other Business:

The Business Development Manager is also responsible for driving deposit growth by developing and maintaining strong relationships with commercial clients, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), and high-net-worth individuals within the west coast market. This role proactively identifies new business opportunities, promotes a full range of deposit products, and delivers exceptional client service through tailored financial recommendations. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with relationship managers and internal business units to achieve branch growth objectives while ensuring full compliance with all applicable banking regulations, including BSA/AML, CIP, and OFAC requirements. Candidates should possess strong business development skills, excellent communication and networking abilities, and a thorough understanding of commercial banking products and relationship management. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and regulatory compliance while contributing to the continued success and growth of Hua Nan Bank, Los Angeles Branch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively solicit new deposit clients through networking, referrals, and community outreach
  • Manage and deepen existing client relationships to maximize deposit retention and cross-selling opportunities
  • Present and promote a full range of deposit products, including checking, savings and certificates of deposit
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable U.S. banking regulations, BSA/AML requirements, and internal policies
  • Prepare regular business development reports and pipeline updates for branch management

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or business related field required.

Required Knowledge and Experience: minimum of 10 years Corporate Banking experience in lending and minimum 5 years of supervisor or management experience.

Minimum Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Work authorization (U.S. citizenship / Green card holder) is a must
  • English / Mandarin Chinese bilingual is preferred to effectively serve our diverse client base
  • Well-developed analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills including sales and business development skills.
  • Strong leadership and strategic management skills
  • Able to make conclusive recommendations and decisions based on independent analysis
  • Ability to structure creative and sound credit facilities
  • Potentially an ability to work on financial model
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • General knowledge of GAAP accounting, financial statement preparation and tax return preparation in order to develop opinions and recommendations.
  • Intermediate computer skills including the use of excel, word processing, email and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
