Job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of enterprise, government and start-up business and organizations in over 190 countries around the world. Launched in 2006, Amazon Web Services officially began offering developer customers access to web services - now widely known as cloud computing - based on Amazon's own back-end technology platform.
The AWS EBS Finance team seeks a world class Finance Manager to be a key leader on our team supporting one of AWS's largest services, the Elastic Block Store (EBS). This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a fast-paced team. At AWS, finance leaders are strategic business partners and trusted advisors who sit at the table where the biggest decisions are made.
As a finance business leader at AWS, you will partner directly with engineering, product, sales, and operations leaders to influence multi-billion dollar investment decisions, evaluate the economics of new services and regions, structure complex enterprise deals, optimize go-to-market strategies, and drive the financial discipline that enables AWS to grow responsibly at massive scale.

- Partner directly with senior business leaders as a trusted advisor on investment priorities, resource allocation, and long-term growth strategy.
- Develop and present insights to senior leadership through business reviews, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations. Going beyond the "what happened" and focusing on the "why?" and "what can we do about it?"
- Influence long-term business strategy by independently aligning financial and operational analyses with business partners, challenging assumptions when necessary and providing recommendations that influence data-driven decision making.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, sales, and operations teams to translate business priorities into financial frameworks
- Identify and quantify Risks & Opportunities, proactively surfacing trends and anomalies (look around corners)
- Drive operational excellence and controllership across your business area, utilizing automation and AI-powered tools to enhance financial processes and accelerate decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for process and systems improvements, including automation and coordination with upstream and downstream organizations.
A day in the life
This role requires a self-starter with a strong financial modeling background, problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations, and solid skills in people management and thought leadership. - 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
- 5+ years of leading cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
