Job description

Job Summary:
AVT Simulation is an Orlando-based company specializing in systems integration and simulation solutions. They are seeking a Software Engineer who will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and documentation of software applications, while applying industry best practices to develop optimal solutions.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Make targeted modifications to existing software applications as well as develop new components and systems as requirements dictate.
โ€ข Define their work in both requirements and industry standard methods.
โ€ข Perform unit tests of their work and adhere to applicable coding standards.
โ€ข Leverage internal reuse and Free Open-Source Software (FOSS) to the extent allowed to minimize cost and maximize productivity.
โ€ข Maintain a schedule related to assigned task status and completion dates.
โ€ข Implementation and application of sound AVT Configuration Management (CM) processes and adherence to AVT software CM and development policies and procedures.
โ€ข Understand and adhere to cost and schedule targets established during the program design phase.
โ€ข Establish, conduct, and document software testing based on customer requirements.
โ€ข Work on the overall design and development of software products as well as software applications.
โ€ข Travel domestically and/or internationally, as required.
โ€ข Support extended work hours or modified work schedule, as needed, to meet special tasks.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelorโ€™s or higher degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
โ€ข Unmanaged software language experience required.
โ€ข Object-oriented software language experience required.
โ€ข Configuration management tools experience required.
โ€ข Experience with building to requirements and/or synthesizing requirements required.
โ€ข Experience in software design languages required.
โ€ข US Government security clearance may be required, and candidate must be eligible.
โ€ข Candidate will be required to comply with federally mandated U.S. export and control laws.
โ€ข Must be able to travel Internationally.
โ€ข Strong C/C++ experience required.
โ€ข TCP and UDP experience.
โ€ข Understanding of core serial communication protocols, including but not limited to ARINC 429, RS-232, and CAN bus.
โ€ข Two or more years of industry experience or two years of project experience with portfolio examples.
โ€ข Excellent written and spoken communication skills for documentation, intra-team, and interdisciplinary communication.
โ€ข Ability to work in a team environment.
โ€ข Basic math skills, including linear algebra.
โ€ข Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documentation.
โ€ข Ability to analyze problems using scientific and logical thinking.
Preferred:
โ€ข Experience in integration of Garmin Avionics into flight simulators, preferably the Garmin G5000H suite.
โ€ข Experience with a variety of devices, including but not limited to Full Motion Training simulators, avionics, Electronic Control Loaders, Instructor Operator stations and Servers.
โ€ข AEA, A&P, AMTS, and other aviation maintenance tech schooling is a plus.
