Job description

Leidos is seeking an experienced aviation weather forecaster.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Aviation Weather Forecaster is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) working within a specialized crew environment, who uses background knowledge as well as various weather-related tools to provide the customer with guidance and recommendations. Ability to multi-task, strong communication skills, and a firm grasp of Crew Resource Management skills are integral components of successful performance. The weather forecaster will be expected to continuously further their foundational and operational expertise through self-study, and will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge by finding both time-critical and long-term solutions to unconventional problems.
Duties include: Providing target-specific mission planning and execution forecasts to maximize capabilities and effectiveness. Continuously analyzing weather parameters and working with mission planners to avoid inclement weather. Responsible for maintaining and developing additional SME-level knowledge on predicting and evaluating weather conditions around the globe. Providing crewmembers and senior government officers with mission-focused weather forecasts and reports. Performing post-mission assessments and recommendations to senior government staff.
TOP SECRET / SCI clearance is required with the ability to pass a polygraph examination. Candidates who already possess a polygraph preferred. This job entails regular shift work with a schedule that is dynamic in nature. No overseas deployment is required. Shift differential pay is included under specific circumstances.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 8 years' experience as a qualified weather forecaster for ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) operations with experience in CENTCOM AOR. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment and an ability to complete assignments with little or no supervision. Flawless history in handling classified materials in and around controlled facilities.
DESIRED SKILLS: Experience supporting collection platforms. Knowledge in PFPS/Falconview. Bachelor's degree in relevant technical discipline; additional years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. A demonstrated technical understanding of Government communications networks and computer systems.
