Lead Landmark Airport Projects That Shape the Future of Air Travel

Location: Utah

Full-Time | Leadership Opportunity

Are you ready to lead the design and delivery of major airport infrastructure projects that impact communities, airlines, and travelers for decades to come?

A nationally respected engineering firm is seeking a Senior Aviation Project Manager to take ownership of high-profile airport development programs throughout Colorado and beyond. This is an opportunity to step into a visible leadership role where you'll influence project strategy, mentor talented engineers, strengthen client relationships, and drive the successful execution of complex aviation projects.

If you're passionate about aviation infrastructure and enjoy balancing technical excellence, client engagement, and business leadership, this could be the next defining step in your career.

What You'll Be Leading

You'll oversee the planning, design, and construction of critical airside infrastructure projects, including:

  • Runways and taxiways
  • Aircraft parking aprons
  • Airfield pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction
  • Grading and drainage systems
  • Stormwater management improvements
  • Pavement markings and airfield safety enhancements
  • Construction phasing plans that maintain airport operations

From project pursuit through final delivery, you'll serve as the trusted advisor to airport sponsors, regulatory agencies, contractors, and project teams.

Why This Role Stands Out

Strategic Leadership

Take ownership of complex, multi-million-dollar aviation projects while helping shape the growth and direction of an expanding aviation practice.

High-Impact Work

Support projects that improve airport safety, efficiency, and long-term infrastructure performance.

Client-Facing Influence

Build lasting relationships with airport authorities, public agencies, and industry partners while helping secure future business opportunities.

Mentorship & Team Development

Guide and develop project managers, engineers, and technical staff while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of aviation project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams and outside consultants
  • Prepare and negotiate proposals, contracts, and project fees
  • Ensure compliance with FAA Advisory Circulars and applicable regulations
  • Oversee project financial performance, invoicing, and forecasting
  • Conduct quality assurance and technical reviews
  • Participate in business development efforts and project pursuits
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, airport meetings, and professional events
  • Mentor junior staff and support leadership development within the aviation team

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain Colorado licensure shortly after hire
  • 10+ years of engineering and project management experience
  • Aviation engineering experience supporting airport development projects
  • Strong knowledge of FAA airport design standards and Advisory Circulars
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
  • Proven success managing complex engineering projects and client relationships
  • Strong communication, leadership, and business development skills

Ideal Background

You may be an Aviation Project Manager, Airport Engineer, Airfield Design Engineer, Aviation Program Manager, or Senior Civil Engineer looking for an opportunity to lead larger projects, expand client relationships, and play a greater role in the growth of an aviation practice.

Join a Team Building the Future of Aviation

This is more than a project management position. It's an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on airport infrastructure, mentor the next generation of aviation engineers, and help deliver projects that keep airports operating safely and efficiently for years to come.

If you're looking for a role that combines technical leadership, client engagement, and career growth, we'd love to speak with you.
