Master EV Technician/Automotive Mechanic (Electric/Autonomous Vehicle) - London, United Kingdom

Pay: 55,000 - 65,000

Pay: 50,000 - 65,000 (Plus up to 20% uplift for shift premiums)

Schedules Available:

Tuesday - Saturday 10:00PM - 6:30AM

What You'll Do

  • Perform service, repair, and maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and integrated systems of electric autonomous vehicles
  • Diagnose nuanced mechanical, electrical, A/C, and autonomous vehicle systems
  • Conduct complex hardware (HW) retrofits and AV hardware replacements
  • Perform software and firmware updates
  • Collaborate with engineering and service teams to troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues
  • Create repair orders and accurately document work performed, including diagnosis, procedures, and parts used
  • Participate in fleet-wide hardware and software retrofits
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a strong focus on quality and precision
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with autonomous vehicle technology

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience working on cars (brakes, advanced suspension, alignment, electrical repair and diagnosis, software/firmware updates, diagnose nuanced mechanical, electrical, and A/C systems. Complex HW retrofits and AV HW replacement, diagnostic on nuanced AV and EV systems) 
  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, automotive shop equipment (e.g., impact guns, air tools, automotive lifts, floor jacks, etc.) 
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components and an understanding of how they interact 
  • Strong computer skills, and strong aptitude to pick up new technology. Impeccable communication skills 
  • A learning mindset including an open mind to constructive feedback 
  • A proven track record of emphasizing safety and quality of work 
  • Ability to give and receive clear and concise verbal and written directives 
  • Ability to perform regular physical work including, but not limited to, stooping, lifting, and moving up to 25kg 
  • Ability to anticipate future setbacks to mitigate operational progress and growth 
  • Able to juggle numerous projects simultaneously with ease 
  • Comfort in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment 
  • High attention to detail 

A plus if you have: 

  • Experience with sensors, calibration, and/or the autonomous automotive field 
  • Dealership training and automotive experience 
  • Experience with Linux, Java, Python, C++, Jira, Confluence, G-Suite, and Slack is a plus 
  • Previous experience diagnosing and performing repairs on electric and/or hybrid vehicles.
  • Certifications from either IMI or City & Guilds

Working Conditions

This role involves working in a mobile, outside and/or shop environment with exposure to dust, diesel fumes, noise, and mechanical materials such as oils and greases. Technicians must be able to perform essential job functions that include frequent movement such as standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods, as well as lifting heavy objects and accessing tight or confined spaces. This position requires regular use of hands to grasp, reach, handle, and operate tools and equipment. Technicians may be required to work at heights using ladders or elevated platforms and must be able to safely perform duties in various weather conditions. Due to the active work environment and movement of large vehicles, the ability to see and hear sufficiently to safely navigate the workspace is required.
