Job description

Job purpose
The main function of the AV Project Engineer is to act as a technical consultant to our Install and Project Management departments throughout the construction phase of a project by generating For Construction amp; As-Built drawing sets, approving equipment to be ordered for installation, and assisting the project teams with technical support.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to comprehend and translate designs from others into functional system designs for installation
  • Act as technical resource for Installation and Project Management departments
  • Working with Project Managers on coordinating installation needs with external trades and equipment ordering
  • Develop engineering drawings or other data as required to properly install the project systems
  • Identifying and documenting cabling, mounts, and other miscellaneous materials needed for a functional system
  • Meet with vendors / manufacturers to help evaluate product as requested
  • Attend Release to Ops meetings for hand-off of designs from Sales amp; Design Engineers
  • Attend site visits and support Systems Consultants and / or Project Managers on technical topics with client
  • Assistant Installation Department with field questions as they arise
  • Other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications
  • Education and/or experience
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; of equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills, knowledge, and abilities
  • Must be familiar with computer operations.
  • Must understand electronic theory and have strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have advanced knowledge in reading and interpreting blueprints and project specifications.
  • Must be able to comprehend, develop, and explain functional scopes of work.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects under time constraints.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and deal effectively with people.
  • Fluency in the following computer software:
  • Microsoft Office
  • Common unified communication platforms (MS Teams, Zoom, WebEx etc.)
  • AutoDesk AutoCAD / Revit / BIM-360
  • System Integration Software/D-tools/Visio
  • Bluebeam
  • Must be an organized self-starter and have a willingness to follow processes. Strong ability to formulate plans and projections and effectively communicate those plans to others both internal and external is necessary.
  • Must be able to draft routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before small groups of employees and one-on-one to customers.
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and managers. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
  • Ability to deal with and interpret nonverbal symbolism (formulas, graphs, blueprints, etc.)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
