Job Summary:

Catawba Two Kings Casino is seeking a skilled AV Engineer to join our IT team at a premier casino with a hotel amenity in Kings Mountain, NC. The AV Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and operating all Audio/Visual and Lighting systems across the casino property. This includes live event support, DVLED installations, digital signage, Video-over-IP and Audio System infrastructure. The AV Engineer will also supervise and coordinate a team of on-site AV technicians to ensure all systems are fully operational and that events are executed smoothly and professionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the on-site AV technician team, including scheduling, task assignments, training, and performance oversight.
  • Operate and support production audio/video/lighting systems, including audio mixing consoles, installed PA system, video switchers, lighting consoles, and media servers.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot DVLED walls, digital signage systems, and Video-over-IP infrastructure throughout the casino.
  • Oversee daily AV operations to ensure equipment readiness and event coverage across multiple venues and spaces.
  • Provide real-time technical support during shows, entertainment events, presentations, and casino functions.
  • Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and calibration of AV equipment to ensure consistent system reliability.
  • Collaborate with entertainment, marketing, and IT teams to support content delivery, special events, and system integrations.
  • Work with entertainment and marketing to make sure all scheduled entertainment is properly set up in advance from a technical standpoint to ensure a successful event.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of system architectures, configurations, and maintenance procedures for auditing and compliance purposes.
  • Document wiring diagrams, system configurations, preventative maintenance, and incident reports.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on the use of AV systems, ensuring smooth operation during events and daily activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for AV vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Ensure the AV team adheres to safety standards, property policies, and standard operating procedures while working with rigging, power, and elevated installations.
  • Recommend system upgrades, inventory replenishment, and process improvements to AV/IT leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Five (5+) years of hands-on experience in live event AV and lighting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead technician role.
  • In-depth knowledge of live audio best practices, signal flow, Monitor/FOH mixing, DSP's, digital audio consoles, wireless systems, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of theatrical lighting, programming, and lighting console operation.
  • In-depth knowledge of DVLED display systems, including mounting, calibration, and control.
  • Experience with Video-over-IP and Audio-over-IP systems such as Dante AV, AES67, SDVoE, Crestron NVX, or similar platforms.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coach and manage a team in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in AV system design, signal flow, digital audio, control programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with leading brands and platforms such as LG, Q-SYS, Shure, Yamaha, Biamp, or Barco.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Audio Engineering or a related field, is a plus. Not a requirement.
  • CTS or CTS-D certification is a plus
  • Manufacturer training or certification (e.g., Crestron, QSC, Extron, etc.).
  • Prior experience in Live production
  • Prior experience in casino or hospitality AV environments.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays is a must.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and operate lifts.
  • Capable of prolonged standing and working in dynamic, noisy environments.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; bend to open/use lower drawers or cabinetry; to talk, hear, and see. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
