What is an automotive performance shop?

An automotive performance shop is a specialized garage or facility that focuses on modifying and enhancing vehicles to improve their speed, power, handling, and overall performance. These shops offer a range of services such as engine tuning, suspension upgrades, exhaust system installations, and custom modifications. Customers often bring their cars to performance shops to achieve better results for racing, show, or personal driving preferences. Technicians in these shops have expertise in high-performance parts and the latest automotive technologies. Whether you want more horsepower or a customized look, performance shops cater to enthusiasts looking to get the most out of their vehicles.

What are some common challenges faced by technicians working in an automotive performance shop, and how can they be addressed?

Technicians in an automotive performance shop often encounter challenges such as diagnosing complex issues in high-performance vehicles and staying current with rapidly evolving automotive technologies. These roles can also involve working under tight deadlines, especially when preparing vehicles for races or customer events. Open communication within the team and a willingness to continually learn help ensure technicians deliver top-quality results while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Job description

Join a Winning Team with Industry-Leading Pay & Real Earning Potential

Position: Automotive Service Advisor / Writer

Location: Decatur, GA & Lawrenceville, GA

Compensation:

• Base: $70,000 – $95,000 (based on experience)

• Bonus: 1–2% of Total Shop Gross Profit (P&L)

Realistic Earnings: $90K–$130K+

Now Hiring: High-Performance Service Advisors!

AutoShop Recruiting is proud to represent one of Atlanta’s premier multi-location auto repair groups.

These are modern, high-volume shops built for performance — strong car count, strong processes, and a team-first culture that allows Advisors to maximize both customer experience and sales results.

We are looking for top-performing Service Advisors who know how to:

• Build trust with customers

• Clearly present needed work

Confidently convert opportunities into approved repairs

This is not a passive, order-taking role — this is for Advisors who take pride in maximizing every opportunity while doing right by the customer.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

• Strong base salary + team-based bonus structure

• Earn 1–2% of total shop GP (P&L) — not just individual tickets

• Promotes a team-selling culture vs. internal competition

• High car count = consistent earning opportunity

• Clean, air-conditioned, state-of-the-art shops

• Established customer base and strong reputation

How This Shop Operates (What to Expect Day-to-Day)

This is a high-efficiency, high-production shop environment built around strong process and consistent workflow.

• Every vehicle receives a structured inspection process — creating consistent opportunities on every RO

• Fast-paced workflow — inspections, estimates, and customer communication happen quickly

• Strong alignment between technicians and advisors to identify and present work efficiently

• Visual inspections (photos/videos) are used to build trust and support recommendations

• Team-focused approach — everyone works together to maximize total shop performance

This environment is designed for Advisors who are comfortable moving fast, staying organized, and consistently converting opportunities into approved work

What You’ll Be Doing

• Greet customers and build rapport quickly

• Perform walkarounds and communicate vehicle needs clearly

• Present recommended services in a way customers understand and trust

Ask for the sale and consistently close approved work

• Follow up on declined work and capture missed opportunities

• Work closely with technicians to ensure accurate recommendations

• Keep workflow moving and customers informed throughout the process

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of Service Advisor experience preferred

• Proven ability to consistently sell and close automotive service

• Strong communication skills with a customer-first approach

• Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced shop

• Organized, driven, and results-oriented

• Team player who wants to win as a group

The Ideal Candidate

This role is perfect for someone who:

• Knows how to turn inspections into approved work

• Doesn’t leave money on the table

• Understands how to balance customer trust with strong sales performance

• Wants to be part of a team-driven, high-output environment

• Is looking for a long-term home with real earning potential
