Job description

Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Mechanic
Location:Madison, WI

Interested in applying your skills in the aviation industry?Wisconsin Aviation, a full-service Fixed Base Operator (FBO), is growing and seeking aGround Service Equipment (GSE) Mechanicat ourMadison, WIfacility. This position offers a unique and rewarding environment, plus great benefits-including significant flight training discounts.

About the Role:

As a GSE Mechanic, you'll perform maintenance and repairs on airport ground service equipment and company vehicles. You'll also assist with general facility maintenance-includinghangar doors, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. While prior facility maintenance experience is a plus, it'snot required-we'll provide training for those willing to learn.

This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and often outdoors. You'll work both in the shop and out in the field, supporting our daily operations and helping keep everything running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain ground service equipment (e.g., tugs,deice trucks, fuel trucks)
  • Perform routine maintenance on company vehicles
  • Assist with facility upkeep and repairs, including:
    • Hangar door maintenance and repair
    • Basic HVAC, electrical, and plumbing tasks (training provided)
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and safety checks
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Collaborate with team members to support daily operations

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on repair experience (automotive, equipment, etc.)
  • Willingness to learn facility-related maintenance tasks (hangar doors, HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
