Controller 

Lead the Financial Future of a Growing Education Organization

Are you an experienced accounting professional ready to take the next step in your career?

We are seeking a Controller to join our leadership team and oversee the accounting operations of a privately held company with more than $20 million in annual revenue and post-secondary career and technical training schools across three states.

This is more than a traditional accounting position. We are looking for a hands-on financial leader who can lead a talented accounting team, strengthen financial processes, provide meaningful analysis to ownership and leadership, and help drive the organization's continued growth.

What You'll Do

As Controller, you will:

  • Lead and develop a team of three Accountants and one Accounts Payable Clerk
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Manage annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Analyze financial results and actual-to-budget variances
  • Partner closely with the CFO and ownership
  • Coordinate annual GAAP audits with external auditors
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Review general ledger activity and prepare journal and adjusting entries
  • Improve accounting processes, workflows, and systems
  • Provide financial insight and problem-solving support to other departments

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • An experienced accounting leader with 10+ years of related experience preferred
  • A strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • An excellent manager and communicator
  • Highly analytical, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Experienced with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliations
  • Comfortable in a hands-on Controller role
  • A strategic thinker who can also roll up their sleeves and get the work done

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.

CPA or CMA designation preferred.

Experience with Sage Intacct and/or Campus Cloud is a plus.
