Job Description
The Software Engineer, Vehicle Diagnostics is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving software solutions, diagnostic applications, automation tools, databases, and proprietary engineering scripts used to support multi-brand vehicle diagnostics.
This role combines software engineering, data analysis, troubleshooting, and hands-on automotive technology. The engineer will work with diagnostic data, vehicle communication protocols, electronic control units (ECUs), and service applications to improve diagnostic coverage, quality, and customer experience.
Responsibilities include software development, debugging complex technical issues, analyzing diagnostic and validation data, designing automation solutions, maintaining diagnostic databases, and supporting the investigation of vehicle communication and diagnostic failures. The role also involves collaborating with global engineering teams, validation engineers, and product development organizations to deliver innovative diagnostic solutions.
Unlike traditional software development positions, this role provides opportunities to work directly with vehicles, diagnostic equipment, ADAS calibration systems, and automotive electronics. The successful candidate must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where adaptability, technical curiosity, and creative problem solving are critical to success.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong programming fundamentals with experience in C, C++, Java, or similar object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of software debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with databases, structured data, and data analysis methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex technical issues.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, tools, and automotive systems.
  • Experience with automotive diagnostics, vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, UDS, DoIP, OBD-II), or electronic vehicle systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ADAS technologies, vehicle electronics, or automotive service environments is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working effectively in cross-functional and global engineering teams.
  • Passion for software development, innovation, and solving challenging technical problems in a complex automotive environment.

What we value most: We are looking for individuals with a strong software engineering mindset, excellent problem-solving abilities, technical curiosity, and a passion for learning. Experience is important, but the ability to adapt, investigate complex systems, and continuously grow in a rapidly evolving automotive technology environment is what truly defines success in this role.
