AI Systems and Automation Intern

Toffler Associates is a future-focused strategic advisory firm that works with both government and commercial clients. Our firm is seeking an AI Systems & Automation Intern to join our growing team. This person will be supporting strategic client projects, including those in the Aerospace and Defense, Energy and Utilities industries and various defense and civilian federal government agencies.

This role is hybrid and would require that you be in the office a few days a week.

This role starts in May and ends on August 21st (end date can be adjusted to meet school schedule)

This is a paid internship - $20.00/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Develop AI-enabled workflows, copilots, and applications using modern AI platforms and APIs
  • Assist in managing and organizing structured and unstructured data for AI applications and retrieval systems
  • Work with CEO and Director of Operations to identify opportunities to automate business overhead and operational processes
  • Prototype rapidly, iterate continuously, and translate concepts into functional applications
  • Support data governance, permissions management, and secure AI deployment practices
  • Collaborate across teams to translate foresight, strategy, and operational needs into practical AI-enabled solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and optimize models
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate findings, challenges, and solutions to team members
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud), big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark), and version control systems (Git) is beneficial
  • Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Previous coursework or projects related to machine learning or AI is a plus
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without VISA sponsorship now or in the future
