ServiceNow Developer

ServBeyond Solutions

Rockville, MD • Remote

Temporary

Job description

Salary: $135,000 - $145,000

Purpose

The ServiceNow Developer will serve as a hands-on technical resource executing development and configuration tasks under the guidance and direction of the Lead ServiceNow Architect. This role is focused on technical execution, configuration, and developer-level delivery for the clients ServiceNow CSM effort. The work will be performed in a secure government environment with CAC access, and prior secure government ServiceNow experience is preferred.

Why Join ServBeyond

ServBeyond is proud to be recognized for growth and service, including INC 5000 recognition and a 2026 Service to the Citizen Award. We are continuing to build on that momentum by investing in talented people, disciplined systems, and the proposal capabilities that will support our next stage of growth. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to mission-focused client delivery while helping strengthen the systems, standards, and technical execution practices that support ServBeyonds continued growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • CSM Configuration & Development: Build and configure the CSM Configurable Workspace, customer-facing Service Portal, intent-based Record Producers, and automated catalog workflows based on technical designs and architecture blueprints.
  • Workflow Automation Execution: Implement low-code automation using Flow Designer and Process Automation Designer (PAD) to build stage-gated playbooks, automated task routing, and system-level notifications.
  • Integration Implementation: Configure and develop secure, bi-directional REST integrations and workflows using Integration Hub, Robust Transform Engines (RTE), and Workflow Data Fabric to connect the CRM with co-resident platform modules.
  • Data Migration Execution (ETL): Set up staging tables, execute data cleansing scripts, and migrate legacy records (from SharePoint lists, spreadsheets, and custom tables). Ensure data maps accurately using the system-generated client Unique Account ID as the core structural key.
  • Dashboard Configuration: Set up the Performance Analytics module, defining indicators, collection jobs, breakdown sources, and interactive dashboard filters as specified by metrics requirements.
  • Secure Environment Configuration Support: Support configuration and remediation activities needed for secure government environments, including STIG/CIS-related findings when applicable, under the direction of the Security and Architecture team.
  • Current Workflow Migration to CSM: Support the migration of current application workflows into ServiceNow CSM, including configuration, workflow automation, data migration support, analytics, UAT/training support, and deployment/go-live readiness.

Must-Have Experience

  • ServiceNow Customer Service Management (CSM) configuration and development experience.
  • Practical experience configuring platform integrations using ServiceNow Integration Hub, REST APIs, and Robust Transform Engines (RTE).
  • Hands-on experience executing automated data migrations, schema mapping, and table cleansing from legacy formats such as flat files, custom tables, spreadsheets, and SharePoint lists into ServiceNow environments.
  • Hands-on experience building dashboards and reports using ServiceNow Performance Analytics.
  • Hands-on experience implementing automation using Flow Designer and Process Automation Designer (PAD), including playbooks, task routing, and system notifications.
  • Experience configuring Query Business Rules and field-level ACLs to support secure data visibility and multi-tenant boundaries.

Required Technical Skills

  • CSM Portal & Core Case Configuration: Hands-on configuration of ServiceNow CSM capabilities, including Configurable Workspace, Service Portal, Record Producers, catalog workflows, and case management functionality.
  • Platform Workflows & Process Automation: Hands-on implementation of Flow Designer subflows, Process Automation Designer (PAD) playbooks, automated task routing, system notifications, and workflow automation.
  • Integration Engineering & APIs: Configuration of REST integrations and Integration Hub workflows using Robust Transform Engines (RTE) and Workflow Data Fabric where applicable.
  • Legacy Data Migration / ETL: Creation of staging import sets, data cleansing scripts, schema mapping, deduplication support, and target-record indexing using the client Unique Account ID.
  • Performance Analytics & Reporting: Configuration of Performance Analytics indicators, collection jobs, breakdown sources, dashboard filters, and reporting views.
  • Developer-Level Execution: Practical ES5/ES6 scripting, clean and upgrade-safe configuration, unit testing, and timely escalation of blockers while working under the Lead ServiceNow Architect.

Required Years of Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on IT platform development/configuration experience, including at least 3 years of ServiceNow platform experience and at least 2 years of hands-on ServiceNow CSM configuration/development experience

Required Soft Skills:

  • Execution-Focused: A disciplined builder who excels at taking technical specifications and designs from the Architect and turning them into functional platform features.
  • Detail-Oriented: Highly focused on data quality, rigorous unit testing, and keeping configuration code clean and upgradable.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Ability to work closely under a technical lead, providing clear progress updates and quickly escalating blockers.

Certifications

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certifications are preferred and strengthen a candidates profile but should not automatically disqualify an otherwise qualified candidate with strong hands-on ServiceNow experience. Candidates with the required years of experience but without current certifications may be considered for interview, with certification expectations addressed through approval and/or conditional offer terms if needed.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist Customer Service Management (CIS-CSM)
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist IT Service Management (ITSM)
  • ServiceNow micro-certifications in Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and Performance Analytics
  • Government-required IAT Level II baseline certification, such as CompTIA Security+ CE, if required by the customer or environment

Security Requirements

  • Citizenship / Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. Citizen consistent with contract eligibility requirements.
  • CAC Eligibility: Must be able to obtain and use a Common Access Card (CAC) for secure, identity-validated access.
  • Secure Environment Readiness: Must be able to work under a Lead Architect in a secure government environment with CAC access.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Prior experience configuring or hardening ServiceNow in a secure government, federal, or similarly regulated cloud environment.
  • STIG and/or CIS Benchmark hardening experience.
  • Webhooks with error handling and latency handling through custom scripts.
  • GitLab integration experience.
  • ServiceNow ITSM experience in addition to CSM.
  • ServiceNow micro-certifications in Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and Performance Analytics.
  • Experience building or customizing Service Portal widgets using HTML, CSS, and SASS.

Compensation and Market Alignment

The posted national salary range for this position is $135,000 to $145,000 annually. This range is intended to align with the market for hands-on ServiceNow CSM development and configuration talent with practical experience in platform workflows, integrations, data migration, reporting, and secure government environment readiness. Final compensation will be based on the candidates directly relevant experience, ServiceNow technical depth, certifications or ability to obtain required certifications, clearance or CAC eligibility requirements, and overall alignment with the roles client delivery needs.
