Summary:
The automation designer participates in the controls design of paper machinery and related equipment, based on as sold specifications, Voith and industry standards and guidelines, previous designs, and customer requests.
Responsibilities:
  • Use computer aided design equipment and related software to design and control machines for the paper industry including electrical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Review product designs for compliance with sound engineering principles, company standards, and customer purchase order requirements and related technical and mill specifications.
  • Develops and prepares drawings, documentation, part records, bills of material and instruction manuals for orders.
  • Coordinates engineering and other related order issues with both our customer externally, and internally with our sales, product management, application engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality groups, as required, to maintain the order schedule and budget.
  • Travels as required, sub-supplier locations for equipment test and inspection.
  • Performs automation/controls engineering design for reliability, safety, and cost, including Risk assessments.
  • Assists in developing new design standards and engineering processes.
  • Supports automation engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in Electromechanical Design or equivalent.
  • Experience with AutoCAD E or COMOS preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally occasionally.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone.
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to travel for on-site measurements of equipment and/or meetings as required.
