Job description

Design Systems, Inc. is looking for a motivated and hands-on Automation Engineer to help design, build, and launch innovative automation solutions for modern manufacturing. If you enjoy working with robotics, controls, and production systems-and like seeing your work come to life on the plant floor-we'd love to meet you.
This role blends design, programming, and on-site support to deliver reliable, safe, and high-performing automation systems for our customers.
What You'll Do
  • Design and develop automation solutions for manufacturing equipment and production lines.
  • Define and implement applications including material handling, assembly, welding, and palletizing.
  • Support installations with layout validation, field issue resolution, and coordination with electrical and mechanical contractors.
  • Troubleshoot robotics, controls, and electrical systems during installation and startup.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, maintenance, and operations teams to meet cycle time, quality, safety, and reliability targets.
  • Support startup, commissioning, and production ramp-up in active manufacturing environments.
  • Travel as needed to support customer and project requirements.
What You Bring
  • Experience with industrial robotics application design, programming, and commissioning.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting using Siemens and/or Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) platforms.
  • Understanding of robotic work cells, including tooling, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and material handling devices.
  • Hands-on installation support experience including layout validation and contractor coordination.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across robotics, controls, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, maintenance, and vendors.
  • Comfort working on-site in production environments and supporting system startups.
