Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers is looking for experienced Fire Alarm Technicians in our Deerfield, FL branch to work in the surrounding areas. The Fire Alarm Technician at Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. leads the installation and service of fire alarm systems in commercial and multi-family settings. This role involves performing fire alarm installation work, servicing fire alarm systems and supervising apprentices on-site, ensuring that all work is completed in a timely, accurate, and safe manner, and in compliance with relevant codes and WAFS standards. The technician works directly under the guidance of the superintendent/manager.ย 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the installation of alarm systems, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to required standards.
  • Oversee the layout, and installation of fire alarm system panels, wiring, and related equipment. This includes applying knowledge of fire alarm system operations and interpreting blueprints and installation instructions.
  • Completion of work orders, which may include pulling wire overhead, carrying materials, ladders, and other items (up to 50 lbs.), including up and down stairs.
  • Perform maintenance and replacement work on system components, such as alarm devices, panels, power supplies, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.
  • Proactively notify management of any issues, concerns, or changes on the job site.
  • Address employee performance or behavior issues in collaboration with management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors to ensure project goals are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Accurately complete and submit all necessary reports, including time sheets, accident reports, and production documentation, on time.
  • Ensure compliance with all work and safety rules and enforce proper safety protocols on the job site.
  • Responsible for the care, maintenance, and safekeeping of assigned tools and equipment. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area, including the company vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the commercial superintendent/manager.

What are the Qualifications for this position?

  • 3+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience in installing fire alarm systems, reading blueprints, and conducting system testing.ย 
  • Preferred but not required; completion of NICET certification, OSHA 30-hour course, and lift certification.ย 
  • Proficient in using computer software, including company-specific programs.ย 
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience supervising apprentices.ย 
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.ย 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage with others professionally and collaboratively.ย 
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.ย 
  • Ability to wear required protective equipment and adhere to safety guidelines on job sites.
  • Must possess a valid driverโ€™s license and maintain a clean driving record (a company vehicle will be provided).ย 
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, background check, and 10-year employment verification is required.
