Job description

Automated Precision Inc. is seeking Calibration Technicians to join our growing team in Newport News, VA. This position plays a critical role in supporting our high-precision metrology lab by performing in-house calibrations and assisting with the repair of laser-based measurement systems.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Calibrate high-precision laser measurement systems and other instruments per documented procedures
โ€ข Receive and check in customer equipment for calibration
โ€ข Complete accurate documentation (digital and/or paper) for all work performed
โ€ข Assist with proper packaging and shipment of equipment to customers
โ€ข Maintain a clean and safe lab environment
โ€ข Support the shipment of equipment to and from field engineers and customers
โ€ข Communicate inventory needs to Supervisor/Manager
โ€ข Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
โ€ข Pair up with experienced field engineers working at customer sites to provide machine tool calibration services as and when needed
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Associate degree or equivalent
โ€ข Coursework or interest in mechatronics, electronics, or mechanical systems preferred
โ€ข Experience with optical or electro-mechanical assembly a plus
โ€ข Familiarity with hand tools and measurement tools (e.g., calipers, multimeters, micrometers)
โ€ข Understanding of calibration traceability and industry best practices
โ€ข Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
โ€ข Strong attention to detail, organizational, and math skills
โ€ข Effective written and verbal communication
โ€ข Willing to travel
