Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary:

This position performs engineering duties in planning and designing tooling, manufacturing processes, and quality control systems. The Mechanical Engineer must have experience with Autodesk Inventor, as Dorian Tool designs and develops products using Inventor-based 3D modeling and drafting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Create manufacturing and assembly drawings using Autodesk Inventor and other parametric modeling and drafting software
  • Design and develop tooling and components using 3D modeling in Autodesk Inventor
  • Create and update Bills of Materials in engineering documentation and ERP software
  • Oversee production, inspection, quality assurance, and design changes for specific product lines
  • Analyze the design, operation, and performance of Dorian Tool products through in-house or field testing
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
  • Understand product specifications and scope of Dorian Tool products to efficiently provide customer support and alternatives for application requirements
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards, competitive products, and new technology developments
  • Assist the Quality Control department with disposition of discrepant material
  • Assist the Shop Floor Manager, cell supervisors, and machine operators regarding quality assurance and design inquiries
  • Confer with Mechanical Engineer Programmer and Shop Floor Manager to implement tool and fixture design, manufacturing processes, and quality control procedures
  • Train Manufacturing Representatives, distributors, end-users, and international agents on applications, troubleshooting, and performance of Dorian Tool products

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering experience
  • Experience using Autodesk Inventor for 3D design and modeling required Must read, write,
  • speak English fluently

Skills and Abilities:

Critical thinking, active listening, communication, problem solving, decision making, adaptability, and strong understanding of tooling and manufacturing design processes. Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and parametric CAD modeling is required.

Physical Demands:

Standing, walking, bending, sitting, reaching outward and above shoulders, climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling, and general movement throughout the facility. Requires good sense of sound, vision, smell, and touch, and the ability to wear personal protective equipment such as steel-toe boots and safety glasses when needed.
