Job description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronic Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of custom RF and electro-mechanical products. This role is responsible for executing day-to-day design and drafting activities, generating fabrication and assembly documentation, and ensuring designs are released accurately to manufacturing and sourcing. The ideal candidate has strong experience in RF PCB layout, machined housings, chassis and rack design, and is comfortable working in both military and commercial standards environments.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate conceptual, fabrication, and assembly drawings for custom RF and electro-mechanical products 
  • Publish and release fabrication and assembly drawings to support manufacturing and assembly operations 
  • Execute daily design and drafting activities, including RF PCB layout, machined housings, module design, and chassis/rack layout and detailing 
  • Develop designs using tools such as AutoCAD (ACAD), PADS, Autodesk Inventor, or related software 
  • Release completed designs and Bills of Materials (BOMs/BPXs) to sourcing and manufacturing teams 
  • Maintain and oversee document control processes in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards 
  • Input and manage design data within ERP systems 
  • Interface with sheet metal fabrication vendors to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability 
  • Collaborate with customers on all mechanical-related topics, including chassis and rack layouts 
  • Work closely with Planning and Material Control departments regarding BOM and drawing releases 
  • Ensure designs meet applicable military and commercial fabrication and assembly standards 
  • Support prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting activities as needed 
 Qualifications:

  • AAS in Mechanical Drawing or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
  • 7+ years of experience in electro-mechanical design, preferably in RF or related industries 
  • Strong proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, PADS and Autodesk Inventor
  • Experience with RF PCB layout, module design, and enclosure (chassis/rack) development 
  • Working knowledge of military and commercial drawing and fabrication standards 
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 document control requirements and ERP systems 
  • Experience interfacing with fabrication vendors, especially sheet metal shops 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
 Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability/Assembly) 
  • Knowledge of PLM/PDM systems 
  • Background in defense, aerospace, or communications industries 
  • Ability to mentor junior designers and contribute to process improvements
