Job description

We're looking for a Mechanical Designer with 10+ years of experience who can lead design work from concept to execution to meet project specifications, elevate visual and interaction quality, and partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver thoughtful, high-impact outcomes. You'll operate with strong craft, sound judgment, and the ability to mentor others while driving projects forward.
This is where you'll excel
  • Produce high-quality deliverables such as equipment models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Generate sales drawings using Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Ensure technical compliance and proper fit and function.
  • Present work clearly - sharing rationale, incorporating feedback, and driving toward decisions.
  • Manage workload priorities to adhere to budget constraints and project timelines.
  • Resolve discrepancies that occur during the design and manufacture of Buhler equipment.
  • Perform inspections of components, work-in-process, and finished equipment.
  • Organize information on project specific SharePoint sites.
  • Actively participate in project meetings with cross-functional team members, suppliers, and/or customers.
  • Complete design related tasks resulting from equipment installation issues at customer site.
  • Provide mentorship and design direction to other designers through critique, coaching, and collaborative problem-solving.

Job Specifications (Required education and experience)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Proficient in engineering drafting/drawings and engineering principles.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly practices, e.g. welding, sheet metal forming, press operations, etc.
  • Awareness of machine safety codes and designing equipment for the food industry.
  • Proficient in GD&T
  • Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
  • PTC Windchill
