Job description

Parts Clerk/Counter-person Responsibilities:

  • Sell products and/or services to repair the problem at hand and meet the customer's needs.
  • Assist in keeping the parts department clean and orderly.
  • Maintain the retail sales floor and displays to meet or exceed the dealership's standards and customer's satisfaction.
  • Assist the Parts Manager with inventory management to ensure maximum sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide service technicians with parts as required on a daily basis.
  • Communicate efficiently with advisors and technicians to ensure efficient work flow.
  • Communicate with customers in a timely manner when ordered parts arrive.
  • Verify parts receiving documents.
  • Follow prescribed cash, credit, and check processing procedures of the dealership.
  • Attend training as prescribed by management to maintain proficiency in his/her job description.
  • Use dealership equipment and resources safely and proficiently.
  • Maintain customer goodwill by greeting and acknowledging all customers he/she comes in contact with.
  • Follow up on shortages and expedite by reporting to the Parts Manager.
  • Perform other tasks as required by the Parts Manager.

Parts Clerk/Counter-person Requirements:

  • PREFER PARTS DEPARTMENT EXPERIENCE 
  • Demonstrate analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of parts room and shop environments.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must have knowledge of computers and ability to learn inventory system and other software.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast paced environment.
  • Some lifting (up to 50 pounds), sitting/walking around stock room and shop service bays.
  • All potential employees must pass pre-employment testing to include a background check and drug screen.
