What are auto insurance claims?

Auto insurance claims are formal requests made by policyholders to their insurance company for compensation or coverage following a car accident, theft, or damage to their vehicle. When an incident occurs, the policyholder reports the details to the insurer, who then investigates the claim to determine coverage, liability, and the amount to be paid. The claims process may involve submitting documentation, working with adjusters, and sometimes coordinating repairs or medical payments. The goal is to restore the policyholder to their financial position prior to the loss, according to the terms of their policy.
