Job description

The new Pavilion at Augusta Health is seeking a PRN Patient Care Technician to join their team.
Under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse, performs various duties assisting unit staff nurses and clerical specialists to ensure efficient unit operations and safe patient care following established procedures. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit or within his/her department. Must be able to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures, while maintaining the Augusta Health Service Standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
  • Active Virginia State Board of Nursing CNA license OR Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program and have completed the first semester of clinical rotations OR Enrollment in Augusta Health's in-house Patient Care Tech (PCT) program upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support - BLS

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Healthcare and/or customer service experience
  • Previous acute care hospital work experience

Skills:
  • Those team members enrolled in Augusta Health's Patient Care Tech (PCT) training program are expected to successfully obtain and maintain CNA credentialing through the Virginia State Board of Nursing
  • Ability to meet physical and mental requirements for fast paced nursing unit.
  • Able to communicate with patients and other staff- verbal, auditory, and in written form using Augusta Health documentation.
  • Unit and annual competencies to be completed each year
  • HIPPA - no breaches of confidentiality. No related complaints voiced on patient satisfactions surveys. No related complaints by fellow care providers of observed incidences
