Job description

Looking for your next driving gig? Come help Goodwill as a Temporary CDL Class A Driver! We offer a competitive hourly pay rate and a schedule that gets you home every evening. 


This is a first-shift role with zero out-of-state travel (Connecticut routes only) and Sundays off! We are looking for dedicated help through August 2026 or longer. To qualify, you must have a valid CDL A and be able to drive a manual transmission, as primary duties will include drop-and-hook operations and driving a straight truck to transport donations.


Please note this is a temporary role scheduled to end in August, potentially longer. Temporary employees are not eligible for health or ancillary benefits.


Details:

  • Sundays Off
  • First Shift (5am Start Time)
  • 40 hours per week (8 Hour Shifts)
  • Connecticut Routes Only (No Out-of-State Driving)
  • Temporary through August (Potentially Longer)


Responsibilities

  • Drop-and-hook at Goodwill retail stores.
  • Do off-loads at Goodwill attended donation centers.
  • Drive straight truck, roll-off (training provided), and tractor trailer.
  • Will go to Wheelabrator Trash Facility to empty trash containers with roll-off truck.
  • Change trash, metal, and cardboard containers as needed in yard.
  • Help prepare trailer and trucks as needed for delivery.
  • Must always act as a representative of Goodwill and act accordingly, i.e., professionally and courteously.  
  • Must report all accidents timely and according to standard operating procedures.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of agency vehicles.
  • Great attitude with customer service skills.

Position Requirements:

  • Hold a valid Connecticut CDL Class A Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to drive manual transmission.
  • Must have current medical certification.
  • Must be available weekends.
  • Must be able lift, push, and pull 50lbs.
  • Flexible start/end time.
