About Augmented Beauty Innovation

Augmented Beauty Innovation is the startup‑style upstream arm of L'Oréal R&I’s Beauty Tech organization. The team explores emerging technologies and partners with external tech firms and internal beauty experts to transform ideas into functional prototypes and eventually marketable products and services.

About the Global Digital Team

The Global Digital team, based in the Augmented Beauty US Hub, focuses on AI, digital product development, data science, and consumer UX. It collaborates closely with Global CDMO, IT, and engineering teams to build new digital technologies powered by R&I and industry innovations.

Role Overview

The Director, Digital Product Management will lead AI and digital innovation initiatives, driving success across specific products and ensuring measurable customer value and business results. The role encompasses the entire innovation lifecycle, blending strategic vision with tactical execution. Responsibilities include concepting, exploring consumer needs, securing internal buy‑in through pitches, building and leading cross‑functional project teams, and guiding projects through prototyping to handoff for implementation. The Director will contribute to the strategic roadmap that defines the future of digital beauty within L'Oréal.

Day in the Life
  • AI Services Innovation: Lead the development of AI‑powered services that integrate into e‑commerce platforms, digital infrastructure, professional tools, and in‑store experiences. Oversee prompt engineering, behavior optimization, and rapid prototyping.
  • Product Execution: Drive the product innovation lifecycle from conception to pilot launch, serving as the bridge between technical innovation, L’Oréal Research Scientists, and business objectives of the brand portfolio. Translate complex challenges into actionable development sprints.
  • User Value Proposition: Champion strategic analysis, positioning, and product narratives to select features that resonate with target users, ensuring successful market adoption.
  • Project Leadership: Lead product requirements and definition; collaborate with cross‐functional internal teams, including IT, operations, marketing, and portfolio management; and guide projects through the L’Oréal innovation process.
We Are Looking For
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in a scientific, technical, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 8+ years in product management focused on digital innovation, with demonstrated success in end‑to‑end product ownership and detailed execution.
  • Leadership: 3+ years leading the strategic development and execution of digital products from concept through prototyping, iteration, and hand‑off to development teams, using lean startup or agile methodologies.
  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of the digital product lifecycle, including user research, prototyping, iterative development, and agile practices.
  • Applied AI: Proven experience launching AI/ML‑driven products, proficiency in prompt design, agentic workflows, context window management, and system evaluation.
  • Design: Strong understanding of digital interface design and user experience principles; ability to translate consumer insights into engaging product experiences.
  • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with augmented reality, generative AI, big data, and other digital beauty applications and how they integrate into e‑commerce, IT backend systems, and digital infrastructure.
  • Team Leadership: Ability to build, lead, and motivate cross‑functional digital product teams, including designers, developers, data scientists, and QA.
  • Communication: Exceptional storytelling skills to articulate vision, value, and strategy to diverse audiences, from technical teams to marketing and sales stakeholders.
  • Product Launch: Experience managing day‑to‑day technical and design direction for successful app products, with a deep understanding of cutting‑edge digital innovation technologies.
  • Influence: Strong ability to influence stakeholders, build consensus, and present product vision and strategy through effective communication and internal pitching.
  • Site Availability: Ability to be onsite in the office 3 days a week.
  • Authorization: Must have authorization to work in the United States on a full‑time, permanent basis; no immigration support or sponsorship is offered.
