Audiologist-Carlisle

  • Selects, administers, and interprets assessments based on accepted practice standards, hospital policies and procedures, and department policy for Patient Care.
  • All ages: History, communication status, educational level, multicultural issues, spiritual needs, hearing and health of hearing systems are addressed.
  • Pediatrics: considers sleep patterns, safe and proper positioning, sensitivity of skin, ear canal size, background noise, and parental emotional state and concerns.
  • Child: considers patient's interests, positioning needs for optimal test results, parental communication concerns and goals, appropriate and safe testing aids (stuffed animals, blocks), fatigue and time of day best for testing the individual patient.
  • Willingly is flexible with working hours to staff department adequately for patient needs.
  • Willingly aids in transitional needs of clinic such as caseload adjustments, office changes, etc. with minimal disruption to patient care.
  • Attempts to obtain coverage during use of benefit time. Adequate coverage of caseload is arranged prior to time off or departments are notified of those services that will not be provided.
  • Updates educational record on hospital server monthly.
  • Participates in orientation of new staff or hospital personnel.
  • Provides community lectures and in-services.
  • Provides a quality experience for Career and Technology Students, nurse shadows, and college shadows.
  • Provides a quality experience for student interns and effectively communicating with universities to assure documentation and necessary requirements are met.
  • Provides information and calculations on standardized forms to aid in efficient input of data.
  • Appropriately completes statistical procedures and activities.
  • Offers workable suggestions to modify current procedures in order to meet demands of the changing health care arena.

  • Participates in Policy and Procedure revisions.
  • Pediatric: referrals may include need for ABR follow up, medical management, needs for specialized testing (gross motor skills etc.)
  • Child: referrals may include ABR follow-up CAPD testing, educational needs, specialized evaluations (fine and gross motor skills), cognitive needs, includes parent involvement in the plan of care.
  • Adolescent: considers stereo typing and peer pressure, patient and parent involvement, educational needs, recreational needs, and environmental and family sibling/parent support.
  • Adult: considers work needs, medical follow-up and financial responsibilities.
  • Geriatric: considers transportation limitations, multiple therapy schedules, and community-based services based on individual needs. (LEBHOH, AAA etc.)

Qualifications
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
  • Masters Degree Audiology Required
  • Doctorate Preferred

Work Experience:
  • Completion of on-site experience through teaching facility. Required

Licenses:
  • Licensed Audiologist Upon Hire Required and
  • Heartsaver CPR/AED Upon Hire Required and
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required or
  • Ped Adv Life Support Upon Hire Required or
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence of Audiology Upon Hire Preferred

Courses and Training:
  • Meets requirements to enter a clinical fellowship year to attain a Certificate of Clinical Competency. Upon Hire Required and
  • Maintains required licensures and/or certifications to practice in a professional or clinical role per appropriate law or state board regulations. Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Good time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiar with use of standard office equipment such as computer, printer, fax, and copier.
