Position Summary

This Audio Technician position will perform various duties relating to the audio systems for the employees and clients of Xtream Arena.

This role pays an hourly rate of $29.00 to $33.00

About the Venue

Xtream Arena powered by Mediacom & GreenState Family Fieldhouse serves as a highly accessible and most importantly right-sized venue for concerts, family shows, and special events. Xtream Arena & GreenState Family Fieldhouse fulfills a longstanding community and economic development void in Coralville and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities
  • Supply Audio support to events like Iowa Volleyball, Iowa Gymnastics, Iowa Heartlanders and other possible sporting events.  
  • Support Events Department in all audio needs during set up, running and take down of events.
  • Providing great customer service to all clients and employees with Audio needs.
  • Assist in installing of new technology related to the audio system.
  • Maintain all security standards of Xtream Arena at all times.
  • Set and strike portable sound systems, microphones, clear-com equipment for various events and internal needs.
  • Assist production staff for events in the building as they relate to the videoboard, in-house feeds, audio systems and intercoms.
  • Keep accurate inventory of in-house audio equipment and cleaning supplies related audio-visual equipment.
  • Perform off-season maintenance and preventive maintenance projects.
  • Maintain equipment storage, ensure orderly and clean storage area.
  • Support, maintain, repair and inventory all audio equipment.
  • Maintain good working relationship with all vendors.
  • Additional IT/AV support work as needed.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of electronics and electrical systems, Audio and Video systems, fiber and lighting systems preferred.
  • Experience with lighting, sound and video equipment including wireless mics, mixers, amplifiers, speakers, video boards, etc.
  • Prior Daktronics experience a plus.
  • Experience with signal routing and patching.
  • Must be able to competently analyze, prioritize and relay information to make appropriate recommendations for various productions.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate with the public, other employees, live production and communications staff, and vendors.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work events above and beyond the normal working day, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills; working with both internal and external clients.
  • Exposure to Audio Architect and Windows Operating Systems is a plus.
  • 2-3+ years of related experience.
  • Experience working in an arena or theater setting.
