Job Title: Pro AV Design Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Pro AV Design Engineer to join our growing team. This role is responsible for designing reliable, scalable, and code-compliant audio-visual systems for commercial environments. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to collaborate with sales, project management, and field teams to deliver successful AV solutions.

This position plays a critical role in translating client needs into clear, buildable system designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design complete AV systems including audio, video, control, networking, and collaboration solutions
  • Create detailed system drawings, schematics, signal flow diagrams, and equipment layouts
  • Develop accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and labor estimates
  • Review project requirements, site conditions, and architectural drawings
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards, manufacturer best practices, and local codes
  • Support sales teams with technical expertise during pre-sales and proposal phases
  • Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to ensure design intent is met
  • Provide technical clarification and design revisions as needed during project execution
  • Maintain design standards and documentation consistency across projects

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in professional AV system design or engineering
  • Strong understanding of audio, video, control systems, and AV networking
  • Experience with Unified Communications (Zoom, Teams, Webex, etc.)
  • Proficiency with design and documentation tools (AutoCAD, Visio, D-Tools, Bluebeam, or similar)
  • Ability to read architectural, electrical, and reflected ceiling plans
  • Solid knowledge of signal flow, gain structure, and system integration best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CTS-D or CTS certification
  • Experience with manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp, Shure, or similar
  • Familiarity with AV over IP technologies (Dante, AES67, NVX, AVB, etc.)
  • Experience designing for corporate, education, healthcare, or government environments
  • Understanding of project lifecycle from concept through commissioning
