Reporting to the VP of Communications, this leader will oversee a team of external communications professionals and shape the company's full external presence, including earned media strategy, executive visibility, high-impact response, and the channels that influence how the brand is discovered and trusted.

Asurion is seeking a Director, Corporate Communications, to help lead the company's external communications strategy. As a global leader in tech care, Asurion helps millions of customers protect, connect, and enjoy the technology they rely on every day. This role ensures our external narrative reflects that responsibility, trust, and impact.

Reporting to the VP of Communications, this leader will oversee a team of external communications professionals and shape the company's full external presence, including earned media strategy, executive visibility, high-impact response, and the channels that influence how the brand is discovered and trusted.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of proactive external communications strategies that strengthen Asurion's reputation
  • Drive compelling, differentiated storytelling that reinforces Asurion's role as a trusted tech care partner
  • Build and expand relationships with top-tier national, business, financial, and trade media to drive high-impact coverage
  • Identify and elevate executive thought leadership opportunities, including speaking engagements and authored content
  • Help lead communications strategy and response during high-impact or sensitive situations
  • Prepare senior leaders for media engagement, major announcements, and high-visibility public moments
  • Shape messaging for large-scale partnerships and co-branded initiatives with significant external exposure
  • Help manage agency partners, ensuring strong strategic counsel, media performance, and executive readiness
  • Establish and track performance metrics (e.g., reputation, media quality, share of voice), using insights to continuously improve outcomes
  • Translate complex technology-enabled services into clear, credible, and compelling narratives
  • Partner cross-functionally and across the communications team to ensure consistency and alignment across campaigns and communications channels
  • Lead and develop a high-performing external communications team, with accountability for talent, capability building, and execution

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in external communications, media relations, and executive communications within a large organization or leading agency
  • Proven experience leading enterprise media relations strategy, including direct engagement with top-tier national, business, and financial media
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to distill complex topics clearly and quickly
  • Strong understanding of social and digital platforms and their role in shaping external narratives
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience building, leading, and developing high-performing teams
  • Track record of leading communications during enterprise-level crises or materially sensitive events
  • Experience aligning communications strategies with reporting cycles, major corporate milestones, and disclosure considerations
