On behalf of our client, McGill, Power, Bell & Associates, LLP (MPB), Decision Associates is seeking a Firm Resource Manager to drive the optimization of staff deployment and scheduling across client service teams.

MPB is a well-established, regional certified public accounting and professional services firm headquartered in Western Pennsylvania. The Firm operates with offices in Erie, Franklin, Grove City, Meadville, and Titusville, Pennsylvania. This year, the Firm celebrated being in business for 100 years.

MPB is looking for a Firm Resource Manager to help ensure the right people are working on the right engagements at the right time. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the operational side of public accounting or project management and strategic initiatives, has exceptional organizational skills, and finds satisfaction in helping others succeed.

Key Responsibilities

As Firm Resource Manager, you will serve as the central coordinator of firm resources by:

  • Managing staff scheduling and workload balancing across audit, tax, and advisory engagements.
  • Working closely with partners and managers to anticipate staffing needs and resolve resource conflicts.
  • Matching assignments based on staff experience, technical strengths, career goals, and development opportunities.
  • Monitoring engagement deadlines and proactively adjusting workloads to meet client expectations.
  • Identifying capacity constraints and recommending staffing solutions.
  • Assisting with onboarding, staff development, and utilization planning.
  • Helping improve workflow processes and resource management systems.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to firm leadership on staffing, scheduling, and operational efficiency.
  • Supporting a collaborative culture that values teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Management, or related field preferred
  • Prior experience in resource management, scheduling, or project management required
  • Strong background in public accounting, consulting, or another professional services environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of CPA firm workflows (including billable hours and utilization metrics), busy seasons, and engagement cycles is a plus
  • Proven ability to manage complex schedules, competing priorities, and tight deadlines
  • Advanced analytical capabilities, including transforming data into meaningful insights, identifying trends, and effectively communicating findings clearly to leadership
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple departments
  • Experience monitoring and managing utilization and capacity planning
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in practice management and project tracking tools, with advanced Excel and analytical skills to support capacity planning, utilization tracking, and reporting.
