Overview

The Product Development Team supports the medical nutrition business by developing new and revising existing product formulations to meet target characteristics that will deliver positive patient outcomes through therapeutic nutrition. Strong collaboration with product development, regulatory affairs, quality, operations, and commercial team members to ensure development and commercialization of medical nutrition products of highest quality and sensory attributes that meet the needs of the patient population. In this role, you will contribute to establishing a robust product development function through ideation and exploration into innovation and renovation of products to support the medical nutrition business. This position sits in our Corporate Office located in Ayer, MA.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: BS in Food Science, chemistry, biology, nutrition, or related field; Master's in a related field. 0 to 2 years' experience in product development, production, or quality assurance in the food industry. Educational experience will be commensurate to work experience. Experience in using GENESIS or similar nutritional databases beneficial. Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft applications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent grasp of food chemistry, food unit operations and food microbiology. Able to utilize and translate academic learning into practical applications in product development activities. Self-starter, that is inquisitive and eager to learn product development functions from concept to commercialization. Able to understand and follow all GMPs and GLPs. Detail orientation and thorough recording of observations. Able to interpret trial outcome, data, etc. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work with all levels of the organization. Sense of ownership and adaptable to learning new processes and techniques.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS:This position works in a food manufacturing environment and requires the ability to adhere to all GMP, Food Safety, workplace safety and security policies including wearing required personal protective equipment, as well hair net, beard net, etc. as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull. Ability to use a computer, keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment.

Responsibilities

Assist with product development activities including but not limited to conducting product development trials, evaluation and share results of such trials with the broader team. Support the product development and regulatory teams in conducting thorough review of new product concept development in Stage gate process as needed. Work with product development, quality, and supply chain in sourcing new or replacement ingredients necessary to support product development and / or renovation. Assist in developing or updating process development to help support product quality as impacted by ingredient interactions along with impact of unit operations on these formulations. Support Operations and Quality assurance teams to address product quality related CAPA to maintain quality of existing medical nutrition products. Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range$78,733.00-100,988.00 plus 12.5 potential bonusEEO Statement
