Join Altria's Core Product Development team, where you'll work alongside experienced scientists and technical leaders, contribute to products from concept to commercialization, and build expertise that can shape your future career.
We're looking for a Scientist II who is eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the development of next-generation products. In this role, you will lead product development from ideation through commercialization, partnering cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, consumer-relevant products experience while making meaningful contributions from day one.
This is an opportunity to build expertise, influence products from concept through commercialization, and accelerate your career in a highly collaborative and innovative environment. This position is an on-site position that suppports Product Development and our Manufacturing Operations.
What you will be doing:
  • Build and apply technical knowledge in product design and regulatory requirements to support the development, commercialization, and ongoing maintenance of smokeable products.
  • Develop and maintain product Bills of Materials and specifications within enterprise systems (e.g., SAP), ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
  • Support inventory management, sample coordination, and product retain processes to enable efficient team operations.
  • Coordinate product-related documentation and system movements, including regulatory and compliance-related processes.
  • Contribute to qualification and validation activities for new and modified products and materials, supporting defined acceptance criteria.
  • Demonstrate leadership by modeling and promoting Altria's values, fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment.
  • Collaborating with scientists, engineers, manufacturing teams and business partners to drive project success.
  • Driving continuous improvement through innovative thinking and problem solving.

What we want you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience in product development, manufacturing, or other regulated environments is a plus.
  • Experience through internships, co-ops, research projects, manufacturing, product development, laboratory work, or related technical environments.
  • Experience working with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP) and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence, and drive outcomes across cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly convey information and present to diverse audiences.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Willingness and comfort participating in sensory evaluation of smokeable or nicotine products as part of the role; prior familiarity is a plus but not required.

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $80,800.00 - $118,750.00.
