The Role:
Our site in Burnet, TX s seeking a Scientist II, Product Development to join our team.
Entegris is seeking a highly motivated scientist who thrives in a fast-paced environment where safety, quality and continuous improvement are paramount. You will be a key player on the dynamic New Product Introduction team to support multiple projects driving profitable growth in the company's Deposition and Etch Solutions group. Projects will vary depending on size and scope, requiring flexibility and tailored solutions.
The position's primary directive will be to establishing and scaling up purification and synthesis process, characterizing properties, and developing packaging process for advanced deposition materials used in high performance semiconductor products. This position will support new product development from concept and feasibility through engineering phase in our new product phase gate process.
You will be a key player on the New Product Development team along with other skilled scientists and engineers whose objective is to design, develop and scale up processes, sub-components and equipment for the manufacturing team that are used by our customers to build high performance semiconductor products.
What You'll Do:
  • In concert with technical staff, carry out experimentation to develop/scale up purification, synthesis, or packaging of air- and moisture-sensitive inorganic and organometallic precursors for CVD/ALD applications.

  • Maintain/own lab equipment required to perform the job (i.e. gloveboxes, fumehoods, glassware etc.);

  • Pull chemical samples and submit them to the lab for analysis;

  • Document all experiments, procedures and results thoroughly.

  • Coordinate and perform post-service exams on returned containers and chemistry on new containers.

  • Carry out experiments that build fundamental understanding of new chemistries - materials of compatibility, vapor pressure measurement, boiling points, melting points, thermal stability etc.

What We Seek:
  • B.S. or Master degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar technical field or related experience is required.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in chemical process development or chemical handling for Bachelor degree; 1 year experience in chemical process development or chemical handling for Master degree

  • Understanding of distillation, sublimation, or synthesis processes on bench scale up to multiple kilogram scale

  • Accessible by laptop computer and cell phone for occasional use during off hours.

  • Should be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
  • Direct experience with distillation, sublimation, or synthesis

  • Direct experience with handling air sensitive compounds

  • Direct experience working with Schlenk line and gloveboxes

  • 0-3 years of experience in CVD precursor development

  • Medium to High volume manufacturing experience

  • A fundamental knowledge of chemistry (reactivity, vapor pressure, material stability, material compatibility, etc.)

  • Mechanical aptitude associated with setup of lab scale and larger equipment
