Job description

Position Summary

The Cutting Die Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the cutting die department by coordinating workflow, supervising production employees, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment. The Cutting Die Supervisor provides hands-on leadership by coaching and developing Diemakers while assisting with production activities as needed to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on schedule.

The Cutting Die Supervisor works closely with the Production Manager to execute production schedules, identify process improvements, resolve production issues, and achieve departmental goals. The Cutting Die Supervisor is expected to drive Container Graphics' CS1 mindset and always represent the company in a positive, energetic, and consistent manner. The Cutting Die Supervisor reports directly to the Production Manager.


Essential Functions
  • Supervise the daily activities of the Cutting Die department to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Assign work and balance workloads among Diemakers based on production priorities.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, training, and technical support to production employees.
  • Assist in training new employees on company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and safe work practices.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Assist the Production Manager with employee evaluations, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all cutting dies meet CGC quality standards before moving to the next operation or shipping.
  • Perform quality inspections and verify compliance with customer specifications and CAD drawings.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and work with Engineering and Production Management to resolve problems.
  • Assist with production scheduling by monitoring workflow, identifying bottlenecks, and adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of department materials and communicate supply needs.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organization, and equipment care throughout the department.
  • Ensure compliance with all CGC corporate safety policies and promote a culture of safety throughout the department.
  • Perform Diemaker duties as necessary to support production requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that improve quality, safety, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Education / Experience RequirementsPosition Level

Minimum Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience manufacturing cutting dies or related manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or lead operator experience.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Associate's Degree or technical certification.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CAD files, automated die production equipment, and quality systems.

Knowledge / Skills Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of cutting die manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop production employees.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple production demands in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
