You help manufacturing line leaders deliver on Mondelez International's safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and morale targets to ensure processes run smoothly by coaching line teams and using tools to eliminate losses, troubleshoot line problems and improve systems.

How you will contribute

You are a key ingredient in helping us change how the world snacks. You will work closely with line leaders to ensure that Mondelez International meets our safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and morale targets on our manufacturing lines to ensure processes run smoothly. Most of your time will be spent working independently on the manufacturing floor, identifying and fixing problems, improving systems, and being responsible for your equipment, but you will also be responsible for statistical processing control and will lead small-group activities to build line team capabilities to eliminate losses.

  • The Process Engineer is a key contributor and champion of the advancement of our Factories towards Mondelez Quest to Be the Best Vision.
  • Responsible for Loss Intelligence, Loss Eradication and Loss Prevention throughout the Operation, working with Leadership and Core Teams to build capability and engagement to support our business in achieving performance improvement goals (safety, quality, delivery, cost and sustainability).
  • Participates on daily management routines of the line and on monthly and annual loss analysis process, making use of PDCA to track performance and develop plans and actions to meet or exceed site targets.
  • Responsible for build capability of Core team (Operators and Maintenance) as losses are identified and eradicated - the loss prevention is key element of continuous improvement and skills to execute new established standards (CIL in case of AM Pillar and Planned Maintenance in case of PM Pillar).
  • Delivers overall process system ownership to ensure the achievement of the line goals and the implementation of process, standards and systems to maintain and continual improvement of the line performance aligned with the business needs.
  • Extensive knowledge of Focused Improvement/ Analytical Skills (RCA/ BB, 12 Step Kaizen). As member of FI Pillar, ensures implementation and execution of GE building blocks.
  • Acts as a strong agent of change, understands the value of bringing science and engineering to manufacturing and possesses the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Develops in co-ownership with Line Leader, and Maintenance Leader the Line Master plan.
  • Dedicates time to understand the technology associate with manufacturing process (making process, packing, etc) and engage with Machine suppliers to understand equipment working principles.

What extra ingredients you will bring:

  • Generates, maintain and report the historical data for downtime (Planned and Unplanned stoppages), waste (B&R, Rework), centerlines database.
  • Leads the line to deliver/ensure 100% of critical to quality (CTQ), critical to process (CTP), centerlines compliance, audit execution, deviations and target criteria are met.
  • Supports all plant safety initiatives related to line processes.
  • Engages in Daily Management System Meetings to lead plans for loss analysis and loss eradication.
  • Leads and coach core teams to identify and analyze losses and develop solutions and control plans using FI/Lean problem-solving tools such as Working Principles, 5 Whys, Statistics tools, SMED, Control Charts, Pareto, etc.
  • Support waste reductions initiatives such as War on Waste, Manufacturing Standards and World Class Scrap/Water Programs, Over Pack attainment including all R&D as well as Quality initiated projects.
  • Provide technical support to develop new cost saving programs and execute active projects.
  • Lead the activities to document and capture best operating practices, centerline equipment and build capability in the core teams, proactively communicate key learnings to enable best practice replication across shift crews and across lines.
  • Analyze performance data to support yearly, monthly and day-to-day Global Efficiency improvement - have clarity and targets to reduce Planned and Unplanned Downtime.
  • Actively support R&D and Engineering for all development programs targeting process equipment, new products, recipes, technologies and packaging.
  • Provide technical support on production and equipment requirements for raw materials and finished goods, standards and specifications, standards of raw materials costs, types of defects and how to prevent them.
  • Identify and plan Kaizen/Performance Improvement activities such as speed increase, minor stop reduction, scrap reduction, planned downtime reduction (SMED, visual controls) and labor efficiency improvement.
  • Ensure teams understand and report on Key Performance Indicators such as Safety, Quality, Global Efficiency, Downtime, and Consumer Complaints. Process Engineers have mastery on on-line performance tools e.g. DMS and adoption of iDF, so value is created through on-line control allowing Core Team intervention in the manufacturing process enabling ZERO losses.
  • Support new product introduction and major capital initiatives, providing performance data analysis to ensure product and delivery standards are met.
  • Establishes a strong partnership with operations, maintenance, quality and safety to lead various teams responsible for identifying, documenting and controlling best practices in their functional area - so sociable and team work skills are fundamental to engage 100% of Line/Site population.
  • Address, guide, help to resolve technical issues from the line applying problem solving tools, generating and conducting test plans to address the solution of technical issues.
  • Ensures visual controls are in place, follow the global standards, and integrates the midranges and centerlines into the IQS and Data acquisition systems. Periodically updates Value Stream and Visual Loss Map while working to remove bottlenecks.
  • Owns and update Process & Packaging Transformations flowsheets as needed. Ensures Standard Operational Procedures for Start-Ups, Shut Downs and Change-Overs are updated.
  • Ensures line documentation (OPL's, FMEA's, Process Flow Sheets, Process Control Strategies, and Troubleshooting guides) are update accordingly. Provides training to operators on their respective process topics following Skill Matrix guidance.
  • Supports the quality system of the line and ensure outages related to process, materials, procedures and product are addressed appropriately.
  • Supports the maintenance plan (electrical and mechanical) providing input as needed.
  • Manages and update improvement list and the change management system for the line.
  • Is the contact and works together with R&D and Engineering organization, to support projects, improvements and resolving issues. Attend project Startup Team meetings.

Salary and Benefits:The expected base salary range for this position is $69,800 to $87,250 CAD depending on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in a highly competitive bonus program.
