Job description

Patient Care Associate

The Patient Care Associate, under the guidance of a Registered Professional Nurse, provides basic nursing care and implements selected aspects of the patient's nursing plan of care within the limits of his/her on-the-job training and in accordance with the Brooklyn Hospital Center's mission and goals.

High School Graduate or GED

Completion of an EKG / Phlebotomy training program from accredited institution

One (1) year patient care experience in a healthcare facility

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training and or Certification completed within 90 days of hire and every two years thereafter

Knowledge of phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring, rapid COVID testing and ability to document results in designated systems

Ability to perform quality electrocardiogram tests

Knowledge of the Patient Care Associate role in the care of patients identified with Suicidal Risk/ aggression and Trauma risk factors

Ability to use computers and understanding of computer systems
