JOB TITLE: EDI Operations Manager    

Position Summary:  

We’re seeking an EDI Operations Manager to lead a team focused on improving trading partner operational efficiency, strengthening process quality, and driving continuous improvement across Configuration & Enrollment Services and related partner functions. This role blends people leadership, process improvement, business analysis, and escalation management to help the team deliver stronger outcomes for athenahealth and our customers.

About the Team:  

This manager will think strategically and globally about operational problems, partnering across business lines as needed to resolve issues and improve workflows. You’ll bring deep knowledge of the Configuration & Enrollment Services space and how those functions interact with partner teams, while coaching the team to deliver cross-functional process enhancements that create value. 

Essential Job Responsibilities: 

People management & coaching 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of trading partner associates. 

  • Build a culture of continuous improvement, high performance, and accountability. 

  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide actionable feedback, and support career growth. 

  • Facilitate training and development programs to strengthen team skills and knowledge. 

 Content expertise, process improvement, and business analysis 

  •  Analyze current processes to identify inefficiencies in trading partner operations. 

  • Recommend and implement improvements aligned with organizational goals. 

  • Apply process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma or Agile. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and optimize trading partner relationships. 

  • Measure the effectiveness of process improvements and provide regular stakeholder updates. 

Project and stakeholder management 

  • Manage projects related to trading partner initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timely execution. 

  • Gather requirements, communicate progress, and address concerns with stakeholders. 

  • Facilitate communication between teams to support project success and stakeholder satisfaction. 

Expected Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 

  • 5+ years of experience in people management, coaching, or a related role. 

  • 1–3 years of experience in business analysis, project management, or a related role. 

  • 0–2 years of experience in trading partner management, healthcare operations, or a related field. 

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with a proven ability to develop and motivate teams. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Experience translating business requirements into solutions and collaborating across business lines. 

  • Strong analytical skills with experience using reporting and visualization tools such as Excel, Visio, Sigma, or Tableau. 

  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies. 

  • Familiarity with payer systems and enrollment processes is a plus. 

Expected Compensation

$84,000 - $142,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.  Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
