Commercial Litigation Associate (2–4 Years)

Portland, OR | Hybrid | Full-Time | AmLaw 50 Market Compensation


Career Staffing Talent (CST) is conducting a confidential search for a Commercial Litigation Associate to join the Portland office of an AmLaw 50 law firm.


The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years of sophisticated commercial litigation experience and a strong foundation in drafting, discovery, depositions, and state and federal court practice. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a nationally recognized litigation platform.


Responsibilities

  • Handle substantive aspects of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings
  • Manage discovery, including document collection, review, production, and e-discovery coordination
  • Take and defend depositions; prepare witnesses for testimony
  • Assist with case strategy, hearings, settlement discussions, and trial preparation
  • Communicate with clients regarding case developments and litigation strategy
  • Collaborate with partners and associates across offices and practice areas
  • Participate in business-development and professional-networking activities


Qualifications

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • 2–4 years of commercial litigation experience at a top law firm
  • Admission to the Oregon State Bar, or eligibility to waive into Oregon promptly
  • Demonstrated experience drafting substantive motions and pleadings, managing discovery, and handling depositions
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral-advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and matters with sound judgment and initiative


Preferred Qualifications

  • Washington and/or California Bar admission
  • Federal court experience, including practice in the District of Oregon or other federal courts
  • Experience with class actions, MDLs, or complex commercial disputes
  • Industry exposure in technology, financial services, life sciences, energy, or related sectors
  • Judicial clerkship, law review, or journal experience
  • Familiarity with e-discovery and litigation-support platforms
