Intellectual Property and Brand Protection Associate Attorney – Junior Level

§ Practice Area: Global Trademark Strategy, Copyright Portfolio Management, and Digital Media Rights Enforcement

§ Location: Seattle, WA

§ Salary: $235,000 to $310,000 Base Salary (Plus comprehensive bonus, 401(k), medical, dental, and vision insurance, personal medical and parental leave, and family care benefits)

§ Schedule: Full-time, Direct-Hire, Minimum 1,850 hours annual billed target.

§ Duties:

The incoming Junior Associate will play an integral role within the Intellectual Property and Brand Protection group, focusing on the preservation and strategic growth of clients' global trademark and copyright assets. The position demands a proactive approach to intellectual property lifecycle management, serving clients that range from nascent startups to multinational corporations across various industries.

Core responsibilities include:

⨖ Conducting comprehensive domestic and international trademark clearance searches and providing reasoned, actionable counsel on brand adoption and risk mitigation.

⨖ Managing and prosecuting an extensive portfolio of trademark applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and coordinating foreign filings with global counsel.

⨖ Representing clients in adversarial proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), including oppositions and cancellation actions, and managing domain name disputes under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP).

⨖ Providing copyright counsel, including registration, licensing, and enforcement strategies related to original works of authorship in digital and traditional formats.

⨖ Advising clients on internet and advertising law issues, including matters of false advertising, social media policy, and digital content rights.


§ Qualifications:

Candidates must possess the foundational legal acumen and relevant experience to immediately integrate into a sophisticated intellectual property practice.

⨖ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school with stellar academic credentials.

⨖ Active Bar Membership in the state of Washington, or eligibility to waive in promptly.

⨖ Two (2) to Four (4) years of focused experience in trademark and copyright law, preferably within a large, highly-regarded law firm setting.

⨖ Proven ability in U.S. and international trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement matters.

⨖ Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and communication skills required for client memoranda, filings, and court documents.


§ Skills:

The following attributes are highly valued and would significantly contribute to an applicant's success and trajectory within the firm:

⨖ Direct experience managing proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

⨖ Familiarity with complex copyright counseling and filing procedures.

⨖ Demonstrated proficiency in addressing domain name disputes (UDRP).

⨖ A history of working collaboratively on team-based projects while possessing the ability to manage individual assignments with minimal oversight.
