Job description

Vegetation Planner

 Job Description:

  • Inspect and assess vegetation in the right-of-ways for compliance standards and construction work plans
  • Communicate the reasons and benefits of utility vegetation line clearance to property owners
  • Notify property owners of vegetation clearance work to be performed
  • Assist with permitting for DOT, railroads, and municipalities etc. 
  • Travel to assist across all regions
  • Handle customer complaints related to the scheduled work and/or completed pruning
  • Check trees for hazard or danger potential
  • Communicate daily with the foresters, contractors, and general public
  • Document information for vegetation management program using GIS based software
  • Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Qualifications:
 Candidate(s) will be required to meet the following requirements:

  • Must have solid tree identification skills and ability to read maps
  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem solving abilities, the ability to multi-task and attention to detail
  • Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain
  • Experience working with data collection devices and GIS software
  • Bachelors or Associates in Forestry, Arboriculture or Horticulture a plus
  • Inventory or surveying experience a plus
  • ISA Certified Arborist qualification or able to obtain within 6 months
  • Safe driving history
  • Able to operate 4x4 vehicle 
  • Must be able to work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility transmission power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demand and travel from site to site.
