INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER
Techtronic Industries Power Equipment has an opening in its Anderson, SC office for an Associate Industrial Designer. This position will be an integral part of our TECHTRONIC DESIGN INTERNATIONAL (TDI) department developing power tool and outdoor products. We are searching for passionate, driven and creative hands-on designers to join our award-winning product development team. Candidates must have the ability to envision future products and work within a multi-disciplinary team. Additionally, these individuals must be able to articulate initiatives through both visual and verbal communications. Designers must possess in-depth understanding of design integration in the business environment and the ability to lead complex programs collaborating with internal and external global teams. Job Summary
  • Research activities on users, trends, materials, and processes for present/future product development
  • Participate in research through field visits, trend analysis, and brainstorming sessions to identify unmet user needs
  • Foster a creative mindset to consistently generate new and inventive ideas
  • Employ a methodical, process-driven approach to design projects
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to conceptualize, visualize, and create new products
  • Evaluate and apply ergonomics and usability principles to product solutions
  • Conceptualize and visualize ideas through high-quality sketches, illustrations, and CAD renderings
  • Demonstrate interest/aptitude in 3D CAD for complex surfacing and manufacturing details
  • Create visual and functional prototypes to rapidly test design ideas
  • Present and defend project work to internal peers and colleagues
  • Understand and learn VBL strategies that connect user trends with material technologies and product concepts
  • Specify design intent for manufacturing by creating detailed specifications for fit, finishes, color, and graphics
  • Maintain a confident and personable attitude for effective communication with clients and team members

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Internship experience a plus
