Temp-to-Hire, Full-Time Accounting Assistant, Chicago, IL

Our client, a respected provider of metal plating solutions since 1903, is seeking a temporary full-time Accounting Assistant to join its Finance Department. The Accounting Assistant will report directly to the Controller and support daily financial operations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This job is from 8am to 4:30pm with a half hour unpaid lunch and is located on the near west side of Chicago.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain Financial Records: Keep accurate and up-to-date records, including accounts payable and receivable, invoices, and receipts.
  • Process Transactions: Handle daily transactions, including cash handling, recording checks, and processing payments.
  • Prepare Reports: Generate financial statements and reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets, for management review.
  • Reconcile Accounts: Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records to maintain accurate accounting data.
  • Assist Controller: Provide administrative and operational support to accountants, ensuring accuracy in reporting and database management.
  • Use Accounting Software: Operate programs like Sage accounting software or Visual Shop ERP software to process transactions and maintain financial records.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Assoc in accounting or finance preferred.
