The Product Design Lead will be responsible for overseeing the design of a new proprietary software platform to be utilized by research scientists across the country. This role requires deep expertise in human-centered design, combined with a strong understanding of agile methodologies and product management skills, to create user-focused, effective, and innovative products. The expert will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that design solutions are both user-centric and technologically optimized, while also navigating federal regulations and requirements. A government clearance is required or must be obtained for this position.
The Work:
- Apply advanced human-centered design methodologies to agile product development, ensuring that solutions are tailored to meet the needs and preferences of federal users
- Establish project design SOPs and artifacts for the team, including wireframes and mockups, a full design system, site map, and approval processes
- Facilitate design workshops and sprint planning sessions to ensure that user-centered design is incorporated into the agile process
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, stakeholders, and federal clients, to ensure alignment on design goals and project objectives
- Communicate design concepts, rationale, and recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
Here's What You Need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience designing digital products or services in consulting, in-house, or agency environments
- Experience leading custom full life cycle design and build efforts
- Strong foundationin human-centered design principles, UX, and interaction design principles for browser-based, native application, and platform experiences
- Experience working across the product lifecycle, from discovery through delivery and iteration.
- Proficiencywith modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Framer)
- Experience collaborating with engineering and product teams in agile or iterative delivery models
- Ability to communicate design intent and tradeoffs clearly to diverse stakeholders, including non-design audiences
