Overview
Provides genetic counseling for all participating entities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing clinical services, participating in medical and community genetics education, identifying research opportunities, and assisting in developing the genetics program. Reports to the Director of Genetics. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary
Provides genetic counseling services for all participating entities. Responsibilities include delivering clinical services, supporting education initiatives for healthcare professionals and the community, identifying research opportunities, and contributing to the development of the genetics program. This role reports to the Director of Genetics and performs other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality genetic counseling services in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with healthcare professionals and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Provide clinical guidance to patients and providers, including:
    • Syndrome identification
    • Medical management recommendations
    • Genetic testing coordination and interpretation
    • Psychosocial counseling
    • Multidisciplinary care planning
  • Identify and recommend research opportunities that enhance patient care delivery and outcomes across the organization.
  • Participate in educational initiatives for healthcare professionals and community audiences.
  • Support program development efforts within the genetics department.
  • Achieve assigned performance goals and objectives.

Qualifications
Education
  • Required: Master's degree in Medical Genetics or a related field

Experience
  • Required: Clinical rotations completed as part of an advanced degree program

Certifications / Training
  • Required: Board Eligible or Board Certified Genetic Counselor through the American Board of Genetic Counseling

Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Healthcare issues related to genetics
    • Clinical practice and emerging trends
    • Regulatory and legal compliance standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide patient-centered counseling and education

Licensure
  • Licensure requirements may apply based on state regulations (if applicable)

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to: Director of Genetics
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None
