This role in summary
A System Integrator in Software and Electronic Systems (EES) specializes in integrating electrical and electronic components and systems specifically for Kitchen Aid Small Appliances (KASA). This role would involve developing and programming control systems and user interfaces for the appliances, enabling users to interact with and operate the appliances with ease.
This is onsite role at our St. Joseph Tech Center in Michgan.
This may include designing intuitive control panels, integrating touch screens or digital displays, and implementing smart features and connectivity options for remote control or integration with smart home systems. A System Integrator will work closely with a team of engineers, designers, and technicians to understand the functional requirements of the home appliances and translate them into effective system architectures. System Integrator would be responsible for selecting and integrating the appropriate electrical and electronic components, such as hardware, software, wire harnesses, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces, to ensure seamless operatio and optimal performance of the appliances.
Throughout the Whirlpool Development Process (WPD), System Integrator would collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and energy efficiency requirements.
System Integrator would conduct testing and troubleshooting activities to identify and resolve any electrical or electronic issues, ensuring that the appliances meet high-quality standards and deliver a positive user experience. Your responsibilities will include
  • Manage system integration in Production Development Projects: Growth and Innovation (G&I), Cost and Quality (C&Q), and Advanced Development (AD)
  • Work with system architects to have a better hand shake from G0 (planning) to Execution starting at G1
  • Support arch to Decompose product level requirements generation with Target ranges in DNG for SES System and alignment with stakeholders.
  • Support Architects and Project Managers on project scoping work, aligning right cost, quality target and schedule (IDP) with stakeholders before project is initiated
  • Accountable to Drive SES integration events since project initiation.
  • Support on Platform integration event
  • Ensure with the support of PM , product development activities are completed On time, Cost and Quality
  • Performance targets to support the project plans and project execution.
  • Responsible for SES system level design trade-offs and technical decision making for issue resolution within the project/product plan guardrails.
  • Lead technical design reviews / Integration Even for project to provide an assessment of whether the project is within the architecture/project/product plan guardrails by working with key development team members (e.g. Subsystem teams, V&V Engineer, Project Leader) and by consulting with key architecture development team members when necessary (e.g. System Architect, Subsystem SMEs, V&V Strategist)
  • Responsibility to Drive & tracking the closure of Risk Management and Knowledge Gap by partnering with stakeholders.
  • Responsible to drive SES system validation through use of predictive validation methodologies in concept, design and product validation stages
  • Responsible for driving Product Leadership through the Whirlpool Product Development process at the SES system Level.
  • Responsibility to Ensure variant-specific engineering bills of material (EBOMs) have proper configuration management and align to project charter and architecture definition
  • Drive closure of SES System level dFMEA, based on Concept and Design Validation data and functional performance stacks.
  • Define parts will be needed for the builds, number of samples and dates required
  • Align expenses, write POs and track the parts for builds and make sure they arrive on time
  • Review test cases based on consumer use cases results are completed and approved as per the project plan with SES V&V Engineer , SES Subsystem, Platform Subsystem , Setting file Engineer, Platform SI
  • Partner with the Systems Architect and Subsystem Engineers to ensure requirements are consistent, complete and approved as per the project plan
  • Drive Subsystem Engineer & ECAD team for processing the Design package releases and control.
  • Technical Support the Change Management (IOCs, significant scope changes) along with the PM , Depending on Project Scope Changes, that impact significantly Cost, Schedule or Resources, understand the impact of changes and build trade-off/selection material do decide approve/not approve IOC.

Minimum requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Controls and Automation or Computer Engineering
  • 6+ months of experience in Electronics Systems Engineering and Technical Design
