Job description

IMEG is seeking an Electrical Project Designer in Rock Island, IL or Des Moines, IA to help design innovative power distribution, lighting, and specialty electrical systems for a wide range of building and infrastructure projects. As an Electrical Project Designer, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance, energy-efficient solutions for clients in industrial, government and data center sectors. You'll use industry-leading tools like AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, and AGi32 to create code-compliant, reliable electrical designs that make a real impact. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design for electrical systems and mentor junior staff
  • Research, coordinate, verify, schedule and document various design aspects
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships
  • Quickly solve problems and seek the advice of the Project Manager
  • Perform services as required by the contract services agreement
  • Perform electrical calculations, system design, equipment selection, reporting, BIM coordination, and progress submittals

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred
  • 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry or Associate's degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred with 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting
  • photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and proficiency in the use of BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
  • Proficient with energy compliance software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu; the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Proficiency in Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc. Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Salary Range $83,000 - 105,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
