Job description

The FAHS Minority Fellowship Program is seeking a highly organized, team-oriented, industrious, energetic, and flexible who is attentive to detail, open to learning technical skills, and possesses the ability to manage multiple tasks to administer the Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) for marriage and family therapy doctoral and masters students. The Associate Director position will provide administrative support for the MFP program. Successful candidates will have excellent project management, communication, and organizational skills. Candidates must reside in DC/MD/VA/DE/PA/NC/SC/IL only
This position is supported by the federal grant for 100% of its work on the Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) and is dependent upon the availability of grant funding.


Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of the Foundation for the Advancement of Human Systems, essential functions and responsibilities

Management and Supervision

  • Supervise MFP department and staff, including MFP consultants.
  • Build relationships with MFP volunteers, MFP alumni, and external vendors and support services to achieve MFP goals
  • Grow talent through professional development, training, and coaching.

Strategy

  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve the MFP program goals
  • Implement evaluation methods and best practices of program evaluation to ensure MFP outcomes are measurable.

Operations

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Plan and direct all events (virtual and in-person) of the MFP
  • Create and/or execute budgetary goals and reimbursement reports for the MFP operations
  • Make informed decisions relating to the financial goals of the department
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required

The successful candidate will have 3 – 5 years’ experience in a managerial, professional office setting, including supervisory skills for direct reports or comparable managerial experience. Experience working with volunteers, boards, and association leadership is a plus. Experience managing projects with deadlines is required. Knowledge of MS Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. Knowledge of computer software for survey and application data (Adobe Acrobat, Survey Gizmo, Fluid Review, iMIS) or ability to learn quickly. Must be internet proficient and familiar with social media platforms, web development platforms, and data management software. Website management is a plus.

Travel

This position will require 25 percent of travel. Including weekends. Background check is required. Candidates must reside in DC/MD/VA/DE/PA/NC/SC/IL only.
