Job description

Associate Director, Global Project Management - Biopharma

Location: Boston, MA

As Associate Director, Global Project Management, you will be the strategic partner to Global Project Leaders, connecting science, development and commercialization into a single, integrated plan that delivers pivotal regulatory and commercial outcomes.

You will operate at the heart of high-priority programs, guiding teams through complex decisions with clarity, pace and rigor. In a fast-evolving, digitally enabled environment, you will champion data quality, efficient ways of working and enterprise alignment so projects move faster with better foresight.

The Associate Director GPM role is highly visible and is critical to the delivery of strategic and operational objectives. It plays a role ensuring successful delivery of innovative medicines to patients throughout the drug development process.

Typical Accountabilities are:

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Shape project strategy and vision through expert project management, navigating therapy area and corporate governance to align operational deliverables to strategy
  • Share lessons learned and lead elements of the development plan as delegated
  • Ensure linkage to key internal processes and enterprise systems
  • Collaborate with alliance partners
  • Provide input to Business Development on potential deals

Cross-functional Team Leadership and Delivery

  • Lead cross-functional drug development teams and sub-teams with accurate, achievable plans
  • Serve as a core member of early and/or late Global Project Teams to set priorities, budgets and risk strategies
  • Build a cohesive, high-performing team with the Global Project Leader
  • Drive clear communication, effective information management and high-quality project data

Governance and Investment Decisions

  • Orchestrate and prepare teams for governance landmarks, including phase investment decisions and project revisions
  • Lead creation of investment decision documentation
  • Integrate critical information to enable timely, informed decisions by senior leadership

Planning, Monitoring and Delivery

  • Set, gain approval for and achieve deliverables, budgets, schedules and performance standards
  • Maintain best-in-class plans and be accountable for project management deliverables, information management and business reporting across assigned teams

Entrepreneurship

  • Proactively identify and remove barriers, advocate company best practices and apply business acumen to drive cross-functional and cross-project learning and improvement
  • Matrix Leadership and Global Reach: Lead through influence across global stakeholders, aligning regions and functions to keep teams focused on the right activities at the right time and handling complex project situations with confidence

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience supporting cross-functional drug development teams or leading sub-teams
  • Project Management experience with successful track record of delivering projects within agreed time, quality and cost
  • Experience with project management tools and processes
  • Ability to manage high performing teams with expertise in developing effective team operations
  • Ability to work effectively with senior collaborators
  • Experience ensuring high quality data in enterprise systems
  • Strong information management skills, including use of modern collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and OneNote

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced degree in a scientific field and / or MBA
  • 7+ years' relevant experience
  • In-depth knowledge of drug development process with therapeutic area specific knowledge and experience
  • Project Management (PMP) Certification

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $136,514.40 to $204,771.60.Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives-an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
